The Rasmussen family has been designing and producing innovative products in Whittier, California for four generations. In 1907, Rasmus Rasmussen, a Danish immigrant, opened his blacksmith shop on Philadelphia St. in Whittier, CA. He soon began making fancy fireplace tools and screens in addition to more traditional blacksmith services. Rasmussen Iron Works evolved and made a variety of products including truck body parts, steel buildings, and welding rod handles for WWII shipbuilding. Ted Sr., Rasmus' son, opened a fireplace retail store in front of the manufacturing shop. T.R., Ted Sr.'s son, made a breakthrough in gas logs in 1958 by developing the sand pan burner. T.R. couldn't find a manufacturer to make logs for him, so he developed his own molding technique. T.R. and his son Rett continue to innovate and produce products such as the Chillbuster line of gas log heaters, ALTERNA Contemporary Gas Fires, and the Solaire Infrared Grills. Recently, Rasmussen began distributing the Bromic Radiant Patio Heater line as a complement to its outdoor kitchen products. Craftsmanship, value, and industry leadership have been constants at Rasmussen Iron Works, Inc. over the years. The Spirit of the Blacksmith lives on at Rasmussen!
