Enviro Fire is the first brand identity developed by Sherwood Industries and introduced to the market in June of 1989 by Thomas O’Connor, Marin O’Connor, and Cherbel Yousief. Sherwood Industries had a desire to provide “seefire” stoves, however the increasing regulations of wood burning stoves were hindering their design goals. In the early 1990s, the increase of interest in pellet stoves led to Sherwood Industries directing its financial and human resources and becoming the first manufacturer of pellet stoves in Canada. In the mid 1990s, the expanded to include the “Enviro Gas” line of visible flame gas freestanding stoves and entered the European market. 1995 propelled Sherwood into the gas fireplace business after they began manufacturing and offering gas fireplace inserts. The ever expanding success of their pellet stove line spread globally in the end of 1990s spreading their market to Japan, Ireland, and New Zealand with New Zealand becoming the largest importer of Sherwood’s pellet stoves. Unwilling to relent or slow in their ambition to continue to grow, in 2001 Sherwood Industries launched its new corporate identity becoming Enviro. This change also came with the release of the Focus Gas Fireplace and then the Enviro EmberGlo Burner, further expanding their place in the gas fireplace market. Enviro was recognized in 2005 by being awarded two Vesta Awards from Hearth & Home Magazine for Best Pellet Stoves and Insert for their Thermo Pellet Boiler. Enviro again won another two Vesta Awards in 2007 for their Multi Fuel and Self Cleaning Burner System for Hearth Component and Controls. The company continued to grow adding numerous products to their line-up through 2015 when it was acquired 100% by Cherbel Yousief and Stuart O’Connor. Enviro’s latest release is the Urbana line of luxury fireplaces which bring grace and grandeur with every fireplace they offer.
